Ravindra Jadeja, the star all-rounder of the Indian cricket team, has been named the captain of the Chennai Super Kings. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been the captain of the Chennai Super Kings since the inception of the IPL in 2008. But Dhoni has now handed over the captaincy of the team to Jadeja for IPL-2022. The Chennai team practiced in Surat for IPL-2022. Most of the teams practiced in Mumbai while Chennai opted for Surat for practice.
After completing his practice in Surat, Ravindra Jadeja made a special request to the cricket lovers of Gujarat. Chennai Super Kings have uploaded a video on their Twitter page in which Jadeja is seen speaking in Gujarati. “How are you all, today was our last day in Surat,” Jadeja said. We had a lot of fun here. We have been practicing here for the last 15 days. The Lalbhai Contractor Stadium had very good facilities. All the players had fun.
I would like to thank everyone from Chennai Super Kings for providing such great facilities here. I would urge all Gujarat fans to blow the whistle loudly and happily whenever there is a Chennai Super Kings match so that our enthusiasm and our spirits increase. Whistle podu, said Jadeja.
It is to be noted that Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders will face each other in the first match of IPL-2022. The match between the two teams will be played on March 26 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, marking the 15th season of the world’s most popular T20 cricket tournament. This time, two new teams, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, will also be involved.
Chennai Super Kings are the most successful team in the IPL and Dhoni is the most successful captain. Led by Dhoni, the Chennai team has won the title four times while reaching the final a total of nine times so far. Chennai are the only team to have a captain changed for the first time. Apart from this, all the teams have changed more than one captain so far. Chennai had this time recalled Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Rituraj Gaekwad before the auction.
